Nancy Proyect to Receive Pinnacle of Leadership Award

The 2015 Pinnacle of Leadership Award will be presented to Nancy Proyect, President of the Orange County Citizens Foundation.  This highly coveted award is given annually to a Leadership Orange alumni who exemplifies the principles of leadership in action and adherence to the highest ethics in his or her chosen life path and in the community at large.  This year’s award will be presented in conjunction with the Welcome Reception for the Class of 2016, which is being held on September 30th at the Powelton Club in Newburgh. 

Nancy, a 2000 graduate of Leadership Orange, has served as the president of the Orange County Citizens Foundation since 2006. Prior to becoming president, she served as Communications Director. Under Nancy’s tenure, the Foundation has increased outreach and programming, began publishing Quality of Life Report Cards, introduced its Placemaking program and a number of other new community initiatives. Before joining the Citizens Foundation, she owned a public relations consulting firm serving the nonprofit, governmental, and private sectors. Nancy has also worked for the Orange County Partnership, Prentice Hall Publishing, Market News International, and the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce.

She is active in several community organizations including Leadership Orange, the Orange County Arts Council, Cornwall Community Cooperative, Temple Beth Jacob, SUNY New Paltz CRREO, and RE-Think Local. A native of Sullivan County, Nancy now lives in Cornwall-on-Hudson with her husband and two children.

Leadership Orange was started in 1992 by community and business leaders to train existing and emerging leaders, it has developed over the past 20 years into a multi-dimensional training program for both adults and youth.
